AGARTALA, June 1 (TIWN): In spite of strong message by Amit Shah and BJP’s senior leaders to learn proper Governance and Public relations, nationally labeled ‘Motormouth’ Biplab now showing off his arrogance to even BJP friendly Journalists. Only 2 months in power completely blinded this ordinary jobless/part-time Gym trainer to such extent that Biplab canceled two meetings on different dates with a large delegation of Journalists from all over Tripura under the umbrella of Tripura’s largest writer’s body ‘Tripura Working Journalists Association’. Journalists wasted 2 days after coming all the way from North to South Tripura with their decade long pending demands but CM didn’t meet them even after waiting for many hours at Secretariat.

In a press release, TWJA General Secretary Debasish Majumder stated, ‘After being waited for twice and rejected by the Chief Minister, Tripura Journalist Association (TWJA) members have submitted the demand-draft at the Secretariat.

TWJA is the oldest Association in Tripura. Their demands include to implement the wages according to Justice Majithia Wage Board, to provide accreditation card to the subdivisional and district level journalists, to implement housing schemes for landless journalists etc.

TWJA members have also demanded, journalists who are engaged in this profession since 10 years at least but have not been provided with any accreditation, to allocate budget for Journalist Welfare.

To change the journalist appointment policy in Govt depts. was also in TWJA’s demand, but even after two times of attempt the Chief Minister didn’t meet the journalists.

On March 17 the journalist association had appealed for the meeting whereas on May 16 the Chief Minister gave time for a meeting, but at the end the meeting was cancelled and it was said that soon they will be informed when the next meeting date will be fixed.

The Journalists were called by the office on May 31st by the office to meet the Chief Minister but the journalists were waiting for the Chief Minister till night 8 pm from  6 pm, but CM didn’t meet them.

Later, the journalists submitted the memorandum to his office and returned. Till now, no apology was done by the Chief Minister’s office.

TWJA General Secretary Debashish Majumder said, “Such behavior from Secretariat was unexpected and we condemn the whole incident. We request the Govt to restrain from such harassing activities in coming days”.

TWJA also reminds the Chief Minister that he promised about 10000 rupees of pension to state’s journalists. “We hope the pension to be started soon at Rs. 10,000”, said TWJA.
