AGARTALA, May 22 (TIWN): Atleast 22 lakhs were embezzled under Madhuban Panchayat of Dharmanagar subdivision in bridge and road constructions.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb in his first ever visit at few villages of Dharmanagar has unearthed the massive corruption under Madhuban,Panchayat, where works have been shown as ‘complete’ for road and bridge constructions, whereas “No road”, “No bridge” were cited after physical visit.

For the bridge construction Rs. 10 lakhs were sanctioned, whereas for road construction Rs. 12 lakhs were sanctioned before 2 years.

Against both the projects the works were shown as complete in papers, but no work was done actually.

CM has ordered proper inquiry into the whole issue. Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan was present with the Chief Minister.

CM also questioned the local BDO Paritosh Biswas regarding the projects and asked Chief Secretary for proper review of the whole project.
