AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): After Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Rabindranath Tagore, calling him as ‘Gurudev Thakur’ via Mann-ki-Baat, Tripura Chief Minister BIplab Deb has announced, this year on 25th-Baishakh (May-9) in each village of the state Rabindra Jayanti will be celebrated with full enthusiasm. Addressing media, the Chief Minister said, “Rabindranath Tagore was very close to Tripura and he had a strong bonding with Tripura’s royal family. Rabindranath Tagore will be remembered by all and in every village there will a programme in his honour. Tributes will be paid to Tagore across state and 5 to 10 minutes speech will be deliveredâ€.Today in Mann-Ki-Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Bengali litterateur Rabindranath Tagore for his visionary outlook and versatile knowledge in various fields.“I can’t speak in Bengali, but since my childhood in radio I used to listen Rabindra Sangeet…’Aguner Paras Moni’… which gave me a different peaceful feelingâ€, Modi said.
“It was my habit to listen Rabindra Sangeet every morning”, PM said in Mann Ki Baat.
Modi was replying a citizen from West Bengal who alleged that even though Rabindra Jayanti is celebrated every year, but people have forgotten the ideology, philosophy of Tagore.
Modi said, “Gurudev Thakur was not only a knowledgeable person, but was a great teacher. He is an example that when you are a knowledgeable person, you have bigger responsibilities”.
