AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Finally a social organization named Uttaran has raised voice against increasing minor girl rapes in India. A candle march was organized voicing against Asifa murder case, the 8 years girl who was murdered after rape. At the same time, the rally was dedicated for the Dharmangar minor girl who was gang-raped by 5 men. The rally organizers from 'Uttaran Social Organization' have demanded strict law against the rape-culture and also urged the newly formed state govt of Tripura to tighten the security for women. Eight-year-old Asifa Bano had been raped, strangled with her own scarf and been bashed in the skull with a rock. The case — one more devastating example of child rape and killing in a country where such crimes are rising — attracted little attention until last week, when police charged seven men and one juvenile, including four police officers, in the girl’s death. Police allege that the men kidnapped Asifa as she tended to her family’s horses, held her for days in a remote shrine and raped her repeatedly before killing her.

On the other side, the 16 years minor girl was returning from her tutor's home in the evening at Akon-Bakon area of Jail Quarter line.

The kidnappers were first seen by jail-staffs who took shelter in the quarter on yesterday night for this brutal crime. Police rushed to the spot immediately after getting informed about the 5 youths, who entered in the jail quarter with the kidnapped girl. Police also informed the rape incident took place in a quarter of a died ex-jail employee named Purnabasi Debbarma and his wife is involved in this crime. Women Police have registered a case no- 8/ 2018. Under Section- 366 (A)/ 511/376/341-IPC. Along with   Purnabasi Debbarma's wife 5 youths have been arrested on spot.

Crimes against minors have soared 500 per cent over the past 10 years in India, says a new analysis by Child Rights and You (CRY)

CRY has done a cumulative analysis which revealed a rise of sexual crimes against children to 106,958 in 2016 as against 18,967 in 2006.

"More than 50 per cent of crimes against children have been recorded in just five states: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal," said a CRY statement.

According to the NGO, while Uttar Pradesh topped the list with 15 per cent of recorded crimes against children, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh came close at 14 and 13 per cent respectively.
