AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, April 19 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has claimed the 4th pillar of democracy's existence in monarchy era, saying in kings time there were journalists in 'Pandit' attires. Following the Mahabharata-internet controversy now, the Chief Minister has been continuing to connect the ancient with the present. At Udaipur Press Club, Biplab Deb said today, "It's not after 1947 that India having democracy, but media world was existing before lakhs of years. During ancient time, with each king there was a Pandit. Who is he ? He is journalist, may be he was called by other names". "The Pandits work was to inform everything to the King and describe what is going on outside. They also advised the king and helped in decision making", CM said.
"The necessity of media is very much necessary in democracy as well as monarchy. It was not after 1947, but media world was there before lakhs of years", CM said.
"Pandits were actually Journalists in the Raj Durbar, whose work was to inform everything to the King", he repeated.
CM was praising the Bhrahmin-Pandits of monarchy in a programme conducted by Udaipur press club, with the help of ICA Dept to felicitate the Chief Minister and BJP Ministers and MLAs. CM further mentioning about Election results, said, "Without Tripura Sundaris blessing, this election couldn't be won".
