Power generation in OTPC starts after 12 days on Monday night 10.15pm : Full load likely on Tuesday

PALATANA, UDAIPUR, September 2 (TIWN): After almost 12 days power generation from OTPC's 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Power Plant began as the BHEL engineers succeeded in synchronization. According to an OTPC official at around 9pm on Monday night, Gas Turbine was synchronized. At 10.15pm on Monday production was 2MW. However, it will increase as time progresses. Earlier the Gas Turbine was synchronized at 9pm on Sunday. Full load will be available by Tuesday morning.

On Sunday night due to some minor problems in software upgradation of the Gas Turbine the scheduled power generation from the Unit-I of OTPCs 726.6MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine(CCGT) Thermal Plan at in Palatana had been postponed by 24 hrs to Monday night . OTPCs engineering personnel said that earlier it was scheduled that power generation would begin from Palatana from Sunday night with the USA based General Electric experts handing over the unit to BHEL. But since midnight of Saturday it was found that some software upgradation are yet to be completed. As such five GE experts are now working with any stoppage to sort out the problems.

    Meanwhile a 25 members team of General Electric experts have already left the project site. Only 5 experts engineers of GE are stationed at Palatana . They too are expected to leave the plant on Tuesday after the power generation ultimately begins. It is to be mentioned here that the compulsory Major Inspection of Gas Turbine( after 8000 hours of continuous operation) began on 20th August and it was scheduled that the inspection will continue up to 4th September. But the General Electric experts in collaboration with Sogex Oman India Pvt Ltd experts completed the the Major Inspection on 29th August. Reacting to the news published in various local dailies about the Major Inspection a top level OTPC official told TIWN on Sunday, " TRIPURAINFOWAY.com deserves special thanks for publishing round the clock updates with concrete information.It really helped the people of the NE region vastly depending on this plant to know the actual fact. The next such Major Inspection is likely to take place in 2016 as the hardware equipments replaced this time are capable of operating for 24000 hours at a stretch."  TIWN sources said, expert arrived at Palatana from GE's Hyderabad unit on Monday. He supervised the entire upgradation procedure with the total monitoring from GE Headquarters,Atlanta.
