AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): During the 25 years of Communist regime TPSC hardly maintained transparency and never it bothered to stress upon the quality of work culture via recommending specific posts for the specific field. As a result many graduates from various technical lines after coming back in state, have left with no other option rather than facing the TPSC as general candidate. Passed out from Agriculture Engineering, Food Technology and many more courses, the unemployed youths are resented with the Tripura Govt since CPI-M's era as they are unable to compete in their specialized field. However, with the new govt has sat in power the students are expecting some developments in the TPSC's functioning in coming days. Under Assam Govt even fashion technology also valued and specific seats are allocated for the fashion technology passed out students via Assam Public Service Commission's job advertisements.

Resentments have brewed among a major section of unemployed youths, who were able to crack joint entrance exams and were recommended by the state govt through joint entrance to study Agricultural Engineering. While recommending, the students and their parents were assured by the govt with 100 % job guarantees along with much hypes about demands of the course.

But when they passed out, the reality was worse than the expectation as there are now no scope for the graduates to sit in the 'Tripura Engineering Service' (TES) exams through TPSC, which has generated panic, tension and resentment among the passed out students. Above 100 graduates are unemployed in Tripura from Agricultural Engineering but TPSC yet to recommend them.

Noteworthy, the Agricultural Engineering is highly demanding course, has been functioning to boost country’s economy since 70 years, that is since India’s independence. The College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology (CAEPHT) was established by CAU, Imphal at Gangtok, Sikkim during the 2006, offers various subjects and should be qualified state level joint entrance / common entrance examinations held by different Northeast States.

The memorandum given by the passed out students clearly says, “As same students from Tripura were nominated by the Tripura State Government through Tripura Joint Entrance Examination for admission in the University / From 2006 onwards the sponsored seats for CAU- Agricultural Engineering came through Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TJEE)  PCM Counselling”.

The B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) graduates are deprive of employment opportunities by the Government, though they have specialized skills in the subjects and depts. For example B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) graduates learn intensive skills in water resources development and management, but they are denied the opportunity of employment in the  Water Resource Developmenr Organization, though they are equally suitable as that of B.E. (Civil) graduates on the part of qualification. Similarly, they are also denied the employment in the state agriculture dept and watershed dept.

Therefore the passed out students demanded to include Agricultural Engineering subject as one of the subject for the entry level in engineering wings of Agriculture Dept., Govt of Tripura.

The unemployed youths earlier alleged, “As Govt gives us sponsored seats from other states to study but when it came to implement and employment generation no one cares……..We demand, to make necessary correspondence to the concerned organization for inclusion of this B.Tech subject in TES Examination”.
