EC's Inexact Information to media led Confusion about late night's vote-casting rate : 'All polling stations Voter turnout were not of 9 PM', clarifies CEO

AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): After much confusions how voting percentage went so high rate after 9 PM to 12 PM on February 18, the CEO Sriram Taranikanti clarified, "We didn't get all polling stations' 9 PM's update but we added whatever we received for the 9 PM's press conference". But on the polling day, when Taranikanti was addressing to media at 9 PM, he clearly said that the record was of till-9 PM, which created all the confusions as press was writing according to the CEO's given information.CEO now said, "I told you that till 3 PM we could collect the normal data but from 4 O'Clock onwards we started to collect information. From multiple sources we were collecting the information. Some of them were giving data of 4 o'clock, some 3.45 PM and sometimes somebody might had given information of 5.30 PM also and with all those the percentage was 79.52 %. So already it might had gone at least 88 % or more than that".

"We have given 1 lakh 72 thousand 259 tokens which itself represents about 7 % of the voters. Most important thing is the webcasting, which kept the election free and fair", added Taranikanti.

The total voting percentage of Tripura were 89.96 % according to the final record.  A total 88.46 % male participants have cast votes and 91.49 % are female voters. 

The voting percentage at West Dist is 92.87 %, Sepahijala is 91.16 %, South Tripura 92 %, Dhalai 89.22 %, Unakoti 86.19 %, North Dist is 87.25 %, Khowai is 92.19 and Gomati is 90.44 %.
