NEW DELHI, May 10 (TIWN): India sought responses from Pakistan regarding the ceasefire violation reports. Addressing media, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, “For the last few hours there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at this evening between the director generals of military operations of India and Pakistan.” “This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations, and we take very, very serious notice of these violations,” Misri said.

“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situations with seriousness and responsibility,” Misri said.

“The armed forces are maintaining a strong vision on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders — — international borders as well as the Line of Control (LoC).

Weeklong conflict between neighboring countries India and Pakistan has now ended as both countries agreed upon a ceasefire deal. India and Pakistan on Saturday agreed to stop all firing on land, air and sea at 5 pm, announced Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the two countries had “worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action”.

“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” Jaishankar said on social media. “It will continue to do so.”

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the development.

The announcement by the Indian foreign secretary came minutes after United States President Donald Trump said on social media that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire.”

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump said on social media. “Congratulations to both Countries on using common sense and great intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
